After a red eye flight, we arrived this morning in San Jose, Costa Rica. Our first order of business was to purchase a vehicle. We came down with a budget of $16K with the hopes of getting a solid pick up truck. Extensive research showed us that pick-ups are pricey and seriously hold their value down here. The Costa Rican’s work hard and take care of their possessions. Our American culture can learn a lot from them. Our dream truck has been a 4-door Toyota HiLUX. Which is a Tacoma with a diesel, turbo engine. They don’t make them in the U.S. and they are badass. They are definitely out of our price range as even a model from the early to late 90’s are sold here for upwards of 17K, and we really want a newer vehicle. We want an diesel engine because they run a lot longer. However, […]

We had to get a road built in order to access our land. Here’s a little clip of the brand new road getting cut. Our friends took this for us while we were still in the states packing. Amazing to already see progress and new pathways being forged.

Hey there! This is a fly over video of our new property. About 1 acre in the small hill village of Playa Hermosa just 5 min a beautiful beach with the same name. Playa Hermosa is between the surf town of Dominical and wildlife reserve of the “Whale’s Tale” in Uvita. Justin shot this video using his Phantom Quadcopter equipped with a GoPro3. Some cool things about our new land. 1. There is a creek running at the western perimeter. After looking at the topography map, we realized that the creek is named Quebrada Sargento, or “Sergeant Creek.” Needless to say, a pretty auspicious place to drop down some roots. 2. We are located in the province of Puntarenas. The canton (county) just bordering us to the north is named Aguirre. Justin’s mother’s maiden name is Aguirre. Another awesomely serendipitous namesake to note.

Here’s a snippet from my Yoga For Athletes Feature Series on Grokker.com Have you seen the major sponsors for the Olympics? How about the super stylized McDonald’s commercials with professional athletes savoring a big mac with a Coca Cola? What a bazaar world we are living in where our role models for health and fitness are being promoted as fast food junkies and caffeine addicts. It is time for a change! This is NOT how real athletes train and it is not where we should be looking for inspiration! As the Global Yoga Trainer for adidas, for the past 4 years I have had the privilege of working with world-class athletes, trainers and coaches all around the world. Passionate athletes never cease to amaze me. I’m constantly intrigued by these dedicated explorers that dare to push the limits of what is ordinarily thought to be possible as a human. We […]

I am so fortunate to be the face of adidas yoga–they hook me up with so many opportunities to bring the power of yoga to the corporate world of sports where it is much needed. I’m still totally amazed to see my self on camera! And this is no exception. A badass trailer I shot while working in Los Angeles with some pro basketball players. Check it.

This is a great interview I found recently of yours truly. There are some super clear insights into how and why yoga is an effective practice and how it can help you live free from pain. Also a few personal notes on how yoga has changed my life. It’s pretty simple….and it can change yours too (if it hasn’t already!) I’ll post the class I am talking about soon. Enjoy.

Yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks. Two weeks of battling the flu and the busy administrative life of teaching yoga has surreptitiously pulled me off of my daily meditative and restorative yoga practices. As usual, the anxiety began and I promptly took the role of berating myself for all of my shortcomings and sidesteps—a common exercise up here in the space between my ears. Umm, clearly time to hit the restart button. Pause, breathe and remember this is part of the cycle—rebirth. After putting away the magnifying glass of scrutiny and zooming out to see the bigger picture, it turns out I’m actually right on track. With the new moon in Aquarius, a rebirth is exactly what we are being called to embrace. Friday marks the Chinese New Year and the beginning of the year of the horse. Here’s a great link on a bit more astrological […]
